There is a saying about women that you will never remember the handbag she was carrying, the beautiful clothes she was wearing or the expensive watch she had, but what you always remember is the air around them. The fragrance that a person decides to put on them speaks volumes about their personality. In fact, many people don't even consider themselves dressed if they are not wearing a bit of perfume before they step out of the door.

This obsession with perfumes has been with us since the ancient times. Cleopatra filled her ship with knee-deep roses because the enchanting aromas of blossoms are enticing enough to generate an atmosphere around the ship that is transcending. Earlier it was simply the blossoms that were used, but now the process of obtaining the fragrance has changed considerably. But, have you ever wondered about the production process of a floral perfume? Or how many flowers does it take to create the perfect essence? Well, we are here to settle your curiosity.

Scents and sensibility

In order to prepare a 15 millilitres perfume bottle, it takes about 660-700 flowers. And to produce that many flowers are a huge task. In most countries, there is a wave of floriculture going through the countryside. All the fragrant varieties of the flowers like roses, violets, jasmines, orchids, lilies and many more are produced at a large scale to satiate the fragrance industries.

The picking time of these flowers is very specific and it is mostly when the evening is moving towards night, as this is when most of the flowers emit an alluring fragrance. Then all the essential ingredients are gathered at once like flowers, woodsy clove-honey and other raw materials.

The Extraction

The primary ingredient for making perfume is the essential oil in the flowers and to get that flowers are squeezed till the oil is released. There are many processes through which the end result is achieved. After the oils are extracted, the next step is to blend the oils with alcohol. It is the composition of the alcohol that determines whether the product will be a cologne, perfume or any of the other products.

The Dark Room

After the oils are extracted and blended with alcohol, now the concoction is ready to be appropriately aged. This is the most important process in building the fragrance, and it is done by keeping the perfume in a dark and cool area for about a year. After this process is done, you are left with the desired product.

So, now you know how perfume is made, but this doesn't mean that flowers don't have a place of their own. There is something about the nature that can’t be replicated, they might not last a long time, but the fragrance that a live flower provides still remains unmatched. So, why not send some fresh flowers to your loved one to remind them how much they mean to you with flower delivery services.
