Navratri is one of the most religious and holiest festivals of Hindu community. This festival is all about worshipping the Hindu Deity Durga. This festival is celebrated for consecutive nine days. And the tenth day welcomes another Hindu festival-Dussehra. This festive season is all about celebration and sweets.

Goddess Durga is worshipped for nine days because these days are celebrated as her homecoming. Garlanding the goddess is a traditional way of praying. But have you ever wondered that why we offer flowers to the goddess? According to Hindu scriptures, there are three main aspects of life- Tamasic, Rajasic, and sattvic.

For the first three days, Tamas flowers like Ketki, China rose, etc. is offered to Goddess Kali to beat the devilish nature. For the next three days, Goddess Laxmi is worshipped by offering Rajas flowers such as trumpet flowers, red lotus etc. to get over the unstable or violent nature that may have. For the last three days, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped by offering sattvic flowers such as White lotus, Jasmine etc. to strengthen the soul and mind.

According to legends, the beautiful colour and tempting aroma of flowers tempt the “Fire principle waves” towards the goddess idol from the atmosphere, to inspire “goddess principle” in it. Then this spiritual holy principle is moved to the whole house as well as the people residing inside. In simple words, flowers transfer the positive vibes in a house as well as the souls.
